Bay Area fire updates: Latest incidents, what to know (2024)

Fire season is here and emergency crews are on alert due to hot and dry conditions across the Bay Area.

Here's a look at the most recent fires we're aware of.

Brush fire in San Jose

A brush fire has erupted on the side of the highway in San Jose.

According to officials, the fire is near Highway 101 and Alum Rock Avenue.

No other details were released.

Crews were responding to a brush fire near Highway 101 in San Jose on Saturday.

Crews respond to Antioch brush fire

Crews with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a brush fire in Antioch on Saturday afternoon.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 3:33 p.m. at Wilbur Avenue and Apollo Court.

But Con Fire officials told NBC Bay Area that they were able to get quick handle of the fire. They added that they kept the blaze to two acres.

Con Fire said that crews were working to put out any hotspots to prevent the fire from flaring up.

Crews respond to Oakland brush fire

Close to 30 firefighters responded Friday, June 21, to a vegetation fire in Oakland.

The two-alarm blaze was reported at 6:16 p.m. at Interstate 580, near Golf Links Road. Officials said they have the fire surrounded and there are no active flames.

Brush fire in Pittsburg

Firefighters on Friday, June 21, were battling a brush fire in the 2200 block of Santa Maria Drive in Pittsburg, officials said.

Kirk Fire burns in Solano County

Firefighters on Thursday, June 20, responded to a brush fire on Highway 12, near the interchange with Interstate 80, in the Cordelia area of Fairfield.

The blaze burned around 15 acres and forward progress was stopped at 11:20 a.m.

Wildland fire in San Francisco

Crews on Tuesday, June 18, responded to a wildland fire at Pier 80 and Cesar Chavez.

Sites Fire explodes overnight

A Northern California wildfire more than doubled in size overnight Tuesday, June 18, scorching 10,000 acres in Colusa County, according to Cal Fire.

The Sites Fire ignited at about 1:40 p.m. Monday near Sites Lodoga Road and Wilson Creek, southeast of Stonyford, Cal Fire said.

Winds from the north at 10-20 mph and low relative humidity contributed to the fire's rapid spread. A red flag warning is in effect in the area.

Point Fire holds at 1,200 acres

Firefighters continued to attack the Point Fire in Sonoma County, doubling containment overnight Tuesday, June 18, while the size of the blaze remained at just over 1,200 acres, according to Cal Fire.

The wildfire just outside Healdsburg also has destroyed two structures and left at least one firefighter hurt.

Cal Fire posted on X Tuesday morning that the fire was 40% contained, with the acreage holding at 1,207.

Crews battle brush fire in Vallejo

Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire Monday, June 17, in Vallejo.

The blaze garnered a two-alarm response and was reported in the area of Couch Street and Sereno Drive.

Firefighters reported at 4:15 p.m. forward progress of the blaze had been stopped.

Fire progress has been stopped. Crews will continue to remain on scene as fire is mopped up.

Crews battle small brush fire in San Jose

Crews with the San Jose Fire Department on Sunday, June 16, battled a small brush fire near Oakland Street off of Highway 101. SJFD told NBC Bay Area that they are making progress fighting the fire.

The Point Fire northwest of Healdsburg in Sonoma County ballooned up to more than 1,100 acres as of Monday morning, with some evacuations in effect, Cal Fire said. Bob Redell and Kari Hall report.

The blazed dubbed the "Point Fire" has burned about 550 acres and is 15% contained.

Crews battle fire affecting 3 buildings in San Francisco

Firefighters battled a blaze in San Francisco Sunday morning.

Three buildings were affected by the fire in the 800 block of Kearny and the 100 block of Columbus Avenue, the fire department posted on social media around 10 a.m. Sunday.
