I’ve heard Asia / Pacific is easier on the body than Europe since you’re getting much longer rest. Is LAX 350 flying less fatiguing than Europe from the east coast? Worth the commute from the east coast or is that crazy to commute to reserve being junior?

ATL seems like the junior guys get stuck with LIM so not interested in the ATL flying being that junior.

I believe, hope I'm not stepping on your toes, crewdawg, his point is that super senior NBB bubbas can hold high time turns, grab GSs, dump their whole schedules and grab low-block/high credit/close-in WSs, etc...there's just a lot of mechanisms that super seniority offers that as a NBB you could realize a higher W2 than a 717A.

Yep, I fly with plenty of senior Bs on the 737 who are killing it with a combination of LCA trip drops, silver/greenslips, rolling thunder, flying broken trips, etc. of course it's all dependent on staffing, but being senior definitely has its perks.

It’s not just the longer rest, it’s the departure and arrival times. For me, it’s night and day (YMMV). Asia is much much easier on the body. Hong Kong and Seoul were the best but the new Taipei looks awesome as well. Still probably crazy to trans con commute though. I’d love NYC ERA but 100 percent not worth the awesome destinations and nice jet for a commute from Seattle.

I certainly wouldn’t bid avoid it just because it’s a Class II rest facility.

Adding on:
-Four pilot doubles the rest time for the same seat time as three pilot.
-LAX-SYD at 10 pm is much harder than DTW-HND at 10am.
-ATL-ICN is great half of the year at 10am, but is brutal the other half at midnight.

WB varies considerably across fleets and bases. LAX 350 and NYC 330 are junior for a reason. 3 day 25 hour "daytime" Asia trips are the best WB flying.

On the 757 "rest seat" when we did 3 man Europe on the 757, I actually preferred that to the 767 rest seat. Less privacy but if you are 6'4", size 17 shoes and wide shoulders, the 767 lay flat, isn't.

The best was the 76T models with the pilot condo in the cargo hold. I miss doing SEA-CDG on those.

UUggh, the "shark fin".

Those were the aircraft we bought from Gulf Air. Funny, they were at the time (I think) the newest of our 76 fleet. Too bad we sold them all off during the plague.
